ThesePeople turn 50!

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

These People release a new sketch today by the name of “Brothers” and it’s a very special sketch, and not just because we’ve got good friend and excellent musician Scott Bragg in drag and supplying the soundtrack, but also because it’s our 50th sketch!

Well 50th sketch we’ve released to the public anyway, there are a couple of dark little secrets rattling around somewhere.

I can’t believe we’ve hit the 50 mark already, when we were in my basement shooting Shades (for the second time) I didn’t know how long this thing could last, now I know the answer is “at least for 50 sketches.”

To celebrate the big 5-0 help us look back at sketches 1-49 with ThesePeople’s first ever CONTEST!

A while back some one ordered a Men’s Large ThesePeople shirt, last week it came back to me in the mail all unopened and stamped up saying the mailman couldn’t find the guy, when I emailed the guy to apologize for the hold up the email bounced back that the email didn’t exist, but the guy had PAID for the shirt…so since I’ve got an extra Men’s Large shirt laying around, I’m going to give it away to some deserving fan who actually exists!

All you gotta do is write us a paragraph telling us which sketch is your favorite and why. We’ll read all the entries and select the one we deem the best! It’s that easy!!!

I was gonna list my personal top 5, but now I don’t want to influence the contest! So check out or latest as you recover from Memorial Day and we’ll see you in a couple of weeks!!

Who is that guy!?

It’s Joe Vargas THAT’S who it is, DJ, turned actor, turned mermaid. You may remember Joe from his time spent in the huge group shot formerly on the front page of the site and supporting roles in “I Don’t Want to Be Jesus,” and “Over the Thumb.” Now see him earn his keep in his first speaking role as ‘Conner’ in, “PARTING GIFTS!” “Parting Gifts” tells the story of three friends finding out more than they wanted to know about a recently deceased friend while cleaning out his apartment.

In addition to being Joe’s on air premeire, this sketch also could have not been made without the help of Paul, my brother, turned cameraman, turned father (not mine some one else’s.) Paul did an excellent job of keeping us moving and telling us when we sucked and had to do a take again.

Joe was a pleasure to work with and it was great to finally give him a part in a sketch, I think he did an awesome job and hopefully you will too.

Here’s what Joe said about his experience with ThesePeople, “ThesePeople have about as much talent as they do budget…0. I wouldn’t work with them again, even if they did pay me. I hate that they’re my friends.”

So there you have it! Check out “Parting Gifts” with our new friend Joe, and if you guys all hate him we’ll do what they did on LOST with their poorly received new characters and bury him alive…for real. (Spoiler Alert!)

Good news for all of you ThesePeople Fans too! We’ve got 4 more sketches that are already shot just waiting to be edited and slowly released over the next couple of months. So I hope you were planning on laughing this Summer!

Thanks for all the support! And don’t forget to order a ThesePeople T-shirt or ask us about Free Buttons!

DVDs out soon! We promise.
