TWO NEW SKETCHES are up this week! A quick little cutie called \”Funny Glasses\” and, my favorite sketch since my last favorite sketch \”The Jacket.\” Now if you were at MDA Camp this summer you already have SEEN \”the Jacket\” but now is your chance to be reunited with this sketch after 3 long weeks apart. We trust that you haven’t given away the super duper secret ending.
In all seriousness \”The Jacket\” is one of my favorite sketches and I’m very excited that it’s hitting the web. Aaron and I created it in Briarwood mall in Ann Arbor. It’s partially based on a true story of something I observed while Aaron was talking on the phone and I was sitting around observing stuff. We shot it at a couple of parks around the Taylor/Allen Park area on one of the hottest days of the summer. While shooting the opening scene there were two little girls riding their bikes who wanted to be in the \”movie\” so we let them ride by as part of the establishing shot. We feared after they left any moment we\\\’d be assaulted by two angry fathers whose daughters just told them \”some strange men with a camera made a movie of me in the park.\” Fortunately, this never happened.
During the filming of the last scene my allergies were going crazy, bugs were starting to descend on us and Joel had to go sit in the car to get out of the heat before he died. Several bottles of water and a lot of sweat later we wrapped and went home to celebrate. I have never been as tan as I am this summer thanks to all these outdoor summery shoots. I actually almost look healthy.
Enjoy the new stuff! As always any feedback is appreciated!
Two men find an abandoned jacket that takes them on the journey of their lives.
It’s that time again:
1) New sketches Continuity and Scorpion Belt Buckles are up.
Scorpion Belt Buckles is courtesy of Aaron. I’ve got to say, I had a lot of fun on this shoot. Mainly because I was in white makeup and couldn’t touch or see anything at all so I only had to sit still in a chair in the middle of a field and look creepy for several hours. Quote some guy passing by watching the action, “is that a real guy?”
Continuity came out of shooting Oh My God when the script was left in the frame of a few takes and we had to reshoot them. “Did you catch it?” became the phrase of the evening.
2) I’m showing the Vault a little love with one of my works from college shot in 2001, a parody of the television show Cribs. I hated hearing my voice on camera so I cut out pretty much all of my dialogue. In the intro you’ll see scenes from another old project, the stop-motion smash Hit the Button created by Matt, I and old friends back in high school.
3) In celebration of the release of Scorpion Belt Buckles there’s also a new wallpaper up.
